Second Mate – France

I was born in October 1989 in southern France to a family of farmers and shepherds. Taking care of the sheep and goats was our main occupation. It was a great childhood, as we were always outside with animals. I guess that my love and admiration for nature started at that point. Then my parents divorced and my mother remarried a great performer who was a circus clown, so we started to go on tour with him.

At the age of 19, after graduation I went directly to a sailing school to be a skipper on small yacht. Since then, I have worked at sea on tall ships. It was great fun but looking at the sea everyday, I saw how unhealthy it is and the devastation of human impact on the ocean. This made me want to give my time to an organization that was really standing up to protect the sea against illegal or overfishing activity, as I sadly knew that governments will never take action against the illegal industries that they work hand in hand with. I got the chance to join Sea Shepherd and spend a full year onboard The Steve Irwin as a deckhand on Operation No Compromise, then on The Brigitte Bardot defending Pilot Whales in the Faeroe Islands, and proudly this year on The Bob Barker as Second Officer.
